As an organisation deeply rooted in technology, Onja recognises the transformative potential of AI and is committed to contributing to the development and use of AI in an ethical, responsible, and positive way. To help guide us on this road, we have developed a policy that outlines how Onja will engage with AI in our operations.
Onja’s Artificial Intelligence Policy sets clear guidelines for how AI should be used within the organization and in partnerships. It aims to harness AI’s benefits to improve efficiency while safeguarding against potential risks like misinformation, bias, and loss of accountability.
Staff are encouraged to use AI tools responsibly, ensuring human oversight at all times, and must disclose significant AI involvement in their work. Onja also evaluates the AI practices of potential partners, collaborating only with those who meet strong ethical standards and avoiding engagement with very-high-risk AI systems.
The policy is informed by key laws such as Madagascar’s Data Protection Law, the African Union’s AI White Paper, and the EU AI Act. To remain future-ready, Onja is investing in AI literacy for its developers and strengthening protections against AI-related threats.
In recognition of the fast-paced nature of Ai development, we also commit to review this policy periodically and update when new information becomes available.
