Onja is in Toamasina, a lively city with beautiful beaches, nice restaurants, and plenty to do and see. Toamasina is Madagascar’s second-largest city (population 300,000) yet is surrounded by plenty of natural beauty and even has a national park nearby.

At Onja, we believe in the potential people have regardless of their background. We upskill underprivileged youth to work as software developers and allow Malagasy youth to accelerate Madagascar’s development. 

In your role as Communications Officer, you will contribute to telling Onja’s story to the world by creating engaging content, growing our audience, and building trust and legitimacy among our stakeholders. 

 

We believe in hiring based on potential, attitude and cultural fit rather than specific qualifications.

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Social media development, scheduling and community management for Facebook and Instagram.
• Quarterly social media reporting.
• Weekly inbox monitoring. 
• Co- create and co-design engaging communications materials. 
• Support the communications team with cross-department initiatives for Malagasy audience. 
• Collaborate on and support communications projects such as video creation, event coverage etc.
• Photography and video capture.
• Other content creation that would be needed to support the Communications team as you grow in your role.

• Great writing skills.
