Overwhelmingly, our major focus over the past six months has been student recruitment.
Starting from an initial pool of over 250,000 students, we have been identifying the most brilliant students who cant afford to complete their education. The students invited to attend the exam sessions are exceptionally high achievers in lower or secondary high school, but can’t continue studying. This recruitment process is key to the success of the project: the more talented students are, the quicker they will learn, the sooner they will begin working, and the the sooner we can start teaching more students.
We spent sleepless months on the road conducting test sessions. Most students also had to travel themselves to attend the sessions, some for up to three days! We reimbursed their travel costs and gave additional allowance for food on the road, to make sure that it doesn’t cost them anything to attend these sessions.
Special thanks to our team who spent the month working tirelessly to keep our fixed schedule and for sleeping on the sometimes freezing concrete floors of the local classrooms that the ministry of education kindly provide for us, wherever we go.
